With Wings as Eagles - Coffee Mug
Every now and then I feel inspired to do an artwork of a more spiritual nature and this is one such work. It is inspired by a passage from the book of Isaiah, chapter 40:27-31, which reads:
Why sayest thou, O Jacob, and speakest, O Israel, My way is hid from the LORD, and my judgment is passed over from my God? Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding. He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: but they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
I created this artwork as an encouragement to myself - a reminder that when I wait on God, when I lean on Him, look to Him and depend on Him, I will know a strength that is not my own and be raised up when I would otherwise fall.
This oil painting measures 90 x 60 cm (stretched canvas) and features the South African 'Crowned Eagle'. Many thanks to Serval Paul Photography for the photo of the eagle that I worked from. I added in a dramatic sky to help capture the overall feel that I wanted in this work.
