A ladybug is not really a bug at all, it’s a beetle. The difference between the two is that bugs are primarily plant feeders that enjoy a liquid diet while beetles dine on a wide variety of plant and animal materials. Another clarification: the only purpose for the spots on a ladybug serve to warn off predators, “Don’t eat me!” It has nothing to do with age!
