The Four Seasons series 3 by Mucha mug
this beautiful set of 4 maidens portraying the Four seasons splendidly is the handy work of Alfons Maria Mucha 1860-1939 who is best known as Alphonse Mucha the father of Art Nouveau painting. He was a Chech artist known best for his very bold distinct style, especially his advertisements. He was a prolific artist and produced many paintings, illustrations, advertisements, postcards, in what became known as Art Nouveau. Mucha's works frequently featured beautiful young women in flowing vaguely neoclassical looking robes, as seen here often surrounded by lush flowers which sometimes formed haloes behind the women’s heads. this art is entitled " The Seasons " circa 1900, shown here is his third set of the series of decorative panels and it became one of his most popular. It was so popular in fact that he was asked to produce at least two more sets based on the same theme. unfortunately the designs for a further two more sets also exist but were never completed.
