This image is based on a restoration of an original slide. The photograph was taken through the window of another moving ship. The SS Constitution is now resting at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean somewhere north of Hawaii, having sunk while being towed to the breakers. Her sister, the SS Independence, is partially sunk off the coast of Alang India waiting to be scrapped. All things considered, Constitution had a much nobler end.
