New Point Comfort Lighthouse - Mobjack Bay Two-Tone Coffee Mug
New Point Comfort Lighthouse, constructed in 1804 to 1805, lit in 1806. The lighthouse is located at the entrance to the Mobjack Bay in the Chesapeake Bay. Coordinates are 37.3006 degrees North, 76.2775 degrees West. The lighthouse is deactivated and has been surrounded by water since the great Chesapeake and Potomac hurricane of 1933. This image was taken from my kayak in July 2016 under somewhat choppy seas. The lighthouse is about a mile offshore from the New Point Comfort Natural Area Preserve near Port Haywood, Virginia. This is the third oldest lighthouse in the Chesapeake Bay and the tenth oldest in the United States.
