Remember when the TV stations turned off and test patterns like this one were the only thing to watch for hours? What do they mean, anyway? I mean, are they symbols of some secret society? Or communications from Mars? They always freaked me out - I flew to the TV to turn it off before then end of the Star-Spangled Banner, so I would have to see the scary test pattern and hear that persistent buzz. But now, you can enjoy the pattern without the buzz with your morning coffee, or at 2am with some cocoa and the knowledge that there's plenty of TV to watch.
