Ancient Roman Pompeii Neighbor Fresco Musician Mug
Show off your love of Roman history with this unique mug! Here, the lady (possibly a Macedonian queen) plays the kithara, an instrument associated with Apollo. The mug reproduces a detail from a fresco from the Villa of P. Fannius Synistor at Boscoreale. Like neighboring Pompeii, Boscoreale was destroyed & simultaneously preserved by the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 CE. The fresco comes from c. 50–40 BCE (in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; public domain image digitally restored by Aetas Aurea Studio in 2024).
